 Toddler Busy Book

I made this busy book as a gift for my nephew. It was the very first busy book I’ve ever made, and I learned a lot from the experience. The binding of the book turned out to be more difficult than I had imagined, so as I look forward to making a busy book for my daughter I am definitely going to do a few things differently.

But over all I was very pleased by how the book turned out. All the pages are geared towards learning – either intellectually

“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord.”

(Colossians 3:23NIV)

 Keturah’s Busy Book

I made this busy book for our daughter’s first birthday. I really liked the idea of making gifts for our daughter instead of purchasing gifts from a store. Our family was also planning to travel a few days after her birthday, so I thought a busy book would be the most ideal gift, since it could help to keep her occupied some during our travels.

For a 1-year-old it is difficult to keep their attention on any one thing for very long, so I really tried to make this book have a lot of

Mouse in the House Busy Book

As I was working on my last busy book project, I suddenly had an idea that developed into yet another busy book.

This project is unlike any other busy book I have seen, and as far as I know there aren’t any quiet like it as of yet.

The inspiration for this project actually came from a book I remember seeing many years ago. . . an Usborne interactive book that had a little mouse you could pass through different slots in each of the pages.

 Digital Scrapbooking: Wedding Album

I made this digital photo book of our wedding pictures and gave it to my husband as a gift on our first anniversary. It turned out so much better than I had expected. I did all the photo editing and design work using Adobe Photoshop Elements. Once it was all designed and ready, I had it published into a book using VioVio. They did a GREAT job with the publishing, the most affordable option I could find but still really great quality!

 “Lumpy” (Elephant) Birthday Cake

Ever wondered how to make a really cute looking elephant cake?

Well, my daughter loves Winnie the Pooh, and her all-time favorite character is the little Elephant, Lumpy. So, for her second birthday I was determined to find a way to make the perfect “Lumpy” cake.

It actually turned out better than I expected!

 Crochet Projects & Patterns

Crocheting is one of my favorite hobbies. I especially like working with the finer threads to create lace work and doilies – and even more specifically multi-colored lace work.

But in spite of my obsession with lace crochet, I have branched out to other projects as well, and just love the fact that you can make just about anything with crochet.

 Selling Photography Online

I am not a professional photographer by any means, but I have a good eye for beauty and a love of artistic flare, and just a general love for a well taken photo.

I’ve tested out different ways of selling my photos and actually found it to be easier than I originally thought it would be.

Resources

 Digital Stock Photos

For any digital projects you want to make (cards, calendars, bookmarks, digital scrapbooks, websites, etc), you will always run into the same demand for pictures.

There are many sources online where you can get pictures, either for free or for purchase. With any pictures you use you need to be informed about copyright restrictions and licensing. You don’t want to get into legal trouble for using someone’s picture in a way it was not

 Paper Dolls

I have always been a huge fan of paper dolls. As a child, and even still as an adult. In fact, I can hardly wait for our little girl to get big enough to play with paper dolls, together we are going to have a lot of fun making them, playing with them, and creating lots of accessories to go with them.

The dolls on this page are some of my favorites. Ones I have had for a long time that I often print off when I’m babysitting little girls.

 Newborn Lamb Comfort Toy (Crochet)

In expectation of baby #3’s arrival soon I made this little sheep plush toy! If you’ve ever seen the crocheted octopus toys that people make as a comfort item for premature babies, this is my “adaptation” of it. The toggles that hang down are supposed to be very comforting for the babies to hold on to . . . but I decided I wanted a little lamb instead of an octopus
