Praying for Your Husband: Obedience

Lord, I want you to hear my prayers, so I ask you to reveal where there is any disobedience or sin in my life, especially in regard to ___(name)___. Show me if I have been selfish, unloving, critical, angry, resentful, unforgiving, or bitter towards him. Show me where I have not obeyed you or lived in accordance with your will. I confess it as sin and ask for your forgiveness.

I pray that you would give ___(name)___ a desire to live in obedience to your laws and your ways. Reveal to him if there is anything that he has taken your place in his heart or steered him away from your precepts.  Remind him to do good, to live at peace, to speak evil of no one, to love mercy, to act justly, and to walk humbly before you. Make him a man who is humble and contrite in heart, who trembles at your word and is intentional about putting his faith into action.

Teach him to embrace the stretching pain of your discipline. Reward him according to his righteousness and according to the cleanness of his hands. Show him your ways, oh Lord, teach him your paths. Lead him in your truth, for you are the God of his salvation.

Help him to live his life in praise of who you are. Draw him ever closer to you. Help him to gain a clearer understanding of who you are and what you require of us in this life.

Draw him into your word and speak to him through it. Help him to seek your heart and to listen for the specific instructions you have for him. Teach him more and more to recognize and know your voice and to be intentional about listening to hear you speak.

Give him a heart that longs to do your will. Grant him the strength and courage to obey your commands and to follow your leading in all things. May he enjoy the peace that can only come from living in total obedience to your commands.

Make him a man that will seek your will in all things and then do it no matter what! And help me to be supportive of him and encouraging to him, to enable him all the more to do your will, for the glory of your name!

Amen!
