Doctor Theme

The Coronavirus has certainly affected what had been our “normal” school routine. BUT, it has also been the PERFECT time to learn about doctors!

“Thank You For Saving Lives!” – Letters to Hospital COVID Staff

Letters to Hospital COVID Staff. When we heard that a lot of doctors and nurses are feeling overwhelmed and discouraged by the COVID-19 outbreak, and even risking their own lives to save others, we decided it would be a nice gesture to send out letters of appreciation to the COVID Staff at the hospitals where the COVID-19 outbreak is hitting the hardest.

I designed this “Thank You For Saving Lives” Letter Head and then let the kids draw pictures under the header as their own personalized “Thank You” to the hospital staff.

Along with the “Thank You” pictures, we also included in each envelope the

“We’re Staying Home for You” picture (below)

Note: If you would like to join us in sending letters of encouragement to doctors and nurses on the “front lines”, here is a list of some of the US hospitals (with mailing addresses) where the COVID-19 outbreak has been hitting the hardest:

“We’re Staying Home for You” Picture

“We’re Staying Home for You!” Picture. There have been several pictures taken by hospital staff containing the message: “We stay here for you. Please stay home for us!”. In response to this, we took a picture of the kids holding up signs that say, “We are staying home for you!”. We also took pictures of the kids pretending to be doctors and treating their sick teddies (see below). Then we took these pictures, along with the “Thank you for saving lives” letter (above) and mailed them out to the COVID Staff at the hospitals where the Coronavirus is hitting the hardest.

Note: If you want to do this as well, it’s really easy! Here’s the link where you can print off the sign to use with your own kids:

And, once again, here’s the List of Hospitals where you can send the picture and a note of encouragement to the doctors and nurses on the “front lines”.

Doctor Role Playing

One of the best ways young kids learn about anything is through their imagination and role playing. So today we pulled out their Fisher Price Doctor Kit and let them pretend to be doctors treating their patients.

Doc McStuffins Wash Your Hands Song

Doc McStuffins Wash Your Hands Song. If anything, the COVID-19 pandemic has certainly raised awareness of the need for good hand washing habits. This video is a fun way to teach kids about washing their hands.

Why You Should Wash Your Hands (Science Experiment)

Why You Should Wash Your Hands (Science Experiment). This very simple science experiment is quite fascinating for kids and adults alike, and can really be effective in showing kids why it is important to wash hands, and how washing hands can help protect you from germs.
