Dinosaur Theme

This is a Creation-based dinosaur theme, so if you believe in evolution then these resources are probably not what you’re looking for. However, if you are coming from a Bible-based, Creation-science stance then I hope you really enjoy this compilation of resources. It was certainly a lot of work to sift through thousands of resources to put together this collection of resources that are geared towards young children and teach them to give God the credit and the glory for the creation of some most incredible creatures!

Dinosaur Lapbook

Dinosaur Lapbook. Creating a lapbook can be a great hands-on way of exploring a topic from many different angles. This particular lapbook takes on the topic of dinosaurs from the creation-science, Biblical point of view. Find the downloadable file and even an instruction video at Homeschool Share Dinosaur Unit Study.

Play Through the Bible: Noah’s Ark

Play Through the Bible: Noah’s Ark. The story of Noah’s Ark is such a huge part in understanding any study about dinosaurs and fossils, which is why in our homeschool program we were intentional about doing this dinosaur theme right along side our Noah’s Ark Play Through the Bible program.

Help the Dinosaurs Get on the Ark Printable Board Game

Help the Dinosaurs Get on the Ark Printable Board Game. This is a simple game of rolling a dice and moving your game pieces until you get your dinosaurs all the way to the ark. You can use just about any small objects as the playing game pieces, but if you have small dinosaur game pieces that would certainly be the most fun!

Dinosaurs for Little Kids

Dinosaurs for Little Kids. Dinosaurs came in all shapes and sizes. Their bones are found around the world, and they were part of some of the Bible's biggest events. From creation to the Flood of Noah and beyond, these unique animals were amazing and the source of many questions. Now learn the truth about the history of dinosaurs in a wonderful book designed just for little children. Explore different kinds of dinosaurs, see when they were created, and why they no longer roam the world today!

My Creation Bible

My Creation Bible. The purpose of this book is to teach kids to trust the Bible from the very first verse. It does a beautiful job of incorporating dinosaurs into the creation and flood stories, and making it very clear how dinosaurs fit into the Biblical account.

Hello, World! Dinosaurs

Hello, World! Dinosaurs. This is cute little book for young kids that serves as a good introduction to dinosaurs. The pictures are fun and colorful and the text is pretty basic (though it DOES through in some big words here and there). I especially like that this book sticks with clear facts and isn't mixing in any evolution in the sharing of the information. It’s so rare to find a dinosaur book that isn’t steeped heavily in evolution.

Dry Bones and Other Fossils

Dry Bones and Other Fossils. Fall in step with the Parker family as they travel the country investigating fossil graveyards. Learn how fossils are formed, found, and displayed. Kids will also learn about how dinosaur fossils actually serve as proof that the Bible is true!

The Berenstain Bears Dinosaur Dig

The Berenstain Bears Dinosaur Dig. The Berenstain bear cubs are fascinated by the dinosaur books they read at the library, and when they go to the museum to learn more about dinosaurs they arrive just in time to witness an actual dinosaur dig. Not a creation-based book, but not heavy with teachings on evolution either.

Dinosaur Zoom!

Dinosaur Zoom!. This book is completely fiction and really just for fun and entertainment, but it was my son’s favorite dinosaur book and just had to be included in our dinosaur theme study. Dinosaurs in all sorts of different vehicles are on their way to a surprise birthday party for the littlest dinosaur. When it comes to little boys you can’t go wrong when you’ve got a book the features dinosaurs and vehicles! It’s definitely a favorite!

Delicious (and Edible!) Dinosaur Fossil Cookies

Delicious (and Edible!) Dinosaur Fossil Cookies. Taking the above dinosaur fossil making idea one step further we thought it would be fun to make our fossils edible!

If you already have a favorite sugar cookie recipe, all you need to do is use dinosaur toys to imprint the footprints or the whole dinosaur (depending on the size of the toys you’re using). After the cookies are done baking, kids can have fun filling in the fossil imprints with frosting.

For a more transparent “painted” look, you might try using Egg Paint to decorate the cookies before popping them in the oven to bake. This creates an extra cool effect to the fossil cookies and doesn’t cover up the fossil imprints as much as frosting does.

I Never Met a Dinosaur

I Never Met a Dinosaur. A fun song by Judy Rogers (from her album “Consider God’s Creatures”) that gives credit to God for the creation of dinosaurs, introduces the idea that not all dinosaurs were large, and even ties in a message of God’s love.

Dinosaur Lost World Mini Garden. I really love this idea from The Garden Book, by Jane Bull, it’s kind of like a fairy garden but it features dinosaurs! Mixing fun with learning, kids will grow different plants in their mini garden and add that touch of fun by using their toys to create a dinosaur habitat and lost world scene. A great science project to spark the imagination!
